From Corporate Codependency to Entrepreneurial Freedom

I recently had this incredibly enlightening conversation on corporate codependency that I just couldn’t wait to share with you all. It’s something that’s been coming up a lot in my Skilled Empath sessions, and I think it’s time we break it down even further.

First off, corporate codependency is a term I coined after numerous interactions with CEOs, VPs, and other top-tier professionals who found themselves strangely dependent on external validation. They might be leading huge companies, but they’re still looking for someone to please, someone to give them a nod of approval. It’s fascinating how often this mirrors our personal lives, where we’re constantly seeking validation from those who might not be the healthiest for us.

During my Skilled Empath sessions, I spend two hours diving deep with you. The first hour is all about uncovering your patterns, inner child wounds, and anything that’s holding you back. We dissect how these deeply ingrained habits can manifest in your career. Whether you’re trying to escape corporate codependency or simply looking to start your own venture, healing those inner wounds is pivotal.

One key takeaway from this episode is the notion that how we do one thing is how we do everything. The roles we played in our families often find a way to repeat in our professional lives. If you were the peacekeeper at home, you might find yourself being the same at work. Sometimes, it’s not about leaving your job but about empowering yourself while you’re in it.

I had this compelling discussion about how validation plays a big role in corporate environments. Oftentimes, our need to please a boss or excel at work stems from an inner void, a place within us that still seeks approval from others. What helped many of my clients—and what can help you—is shifting that need for guidance from external sources to a higher power or your inner self. Because real empowerment comes from within.

One story shared in the episode is from a client who found herself lost after being let go from her job. Without the direction from her boss, she felt adrift. It was a moment for her to turn that dependency on her job’s validation into self-guidance, and even divine guidance. That’s where true empowered entrepreneurship begins.

If you’re feeling trapped or frustrated in your current corporate role, this episode is for you. Even if leaving the job isn’t an immediate option, there are ways to shift your mindset and create healthier boundaries. Start asking yourself tough questions like, “What am I afraid to do?” or “Why do I find safety in compromising my own power?”

I also touched upon the concept of false idols—anything we give our power to that isn’t genuinely serving us. This could be our jobs, money, relationships, or even societal states. Identifying these idols can be a major step towards reclaiming your power.

There’s a lot more where this came from in the full episode, so go ahead and give it a listen. Dive deeper into understanding if you’re living in alignment with your true self or if you’re still playing out old roles that don’t serve you anymore.

As a Spiritual Coach & New Thought Leader, Candace focuses on a soul-centered approach to healing. It is her belief that many of our negative “symptoms” are signs that we are out of alignment with our true selves. We have been conditioned to align with external authorities, societal ideals, out of date learning styles and perfectionistic standards.

We can’t experience or maintain true health unless we are true to ourselves. To clear unwanted symptoms, we must get back into alignment with what we FEEL.

“We are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
