Have you ever felt like there’s a part of you – deep down – that just knows the way forward, even if you can’t rationalize it? On the latest episode of my podcast, I had the honor of delving into these mysteries with energy healer and spiritual teacher, Jeffrey Allen.
This conversation was a breath of fresh air for anyone who’s ever felt the push and pull between outer achievement and inner peace.
Understanding the Two Minds
Jeffrey and his wife, Hisami, have developed a transformative program called “Awakening Your Spirit Mind.” At first, I thought spirit mind was just another word for intuition, but Jeffrey explained it’s actually about recognizing that we have two different minds operating within us: the material mind and the spirit mind.
The material mind is our well-worn tool for everyday living – measuring, analyzing, keeping us “safe.” It’s excellent for navigating schedules, planning, and, let’s be honest, making sure we pay our bills. But when it comes to the big questions – like finding your purpose or what truly brings you joy – Jeffrey says that mind can only take us so far.
The spirit mind, on the other hand, is that inner voice or knowing. It’s the pure, unfiltered awareness that says “this is right for me,” even if you have no evidence to prove it. It’s not about emotion (which, as Jeffrey reminded me, still belongs to the body and material mind!), it’s more like an internal compass guiding us toward what feels truly aligned.
Moving Beyond Resistance and Finding Flow
One of my favorite insights from this episode was about resistance. We all know what it’s like to feel stuck or disconnected, especially when life doesn’t go our way. Jeffrey’s advice? Notice which mind is showing up. Simply pausing to ask, “Which mind is this?” helps us zoom out, dissolve resistance, and open up to a bigger perspective. It’s kind of like pulling your face away from a painting – suddenly, you can see the whole masterpiece instead of just the brushstrokes.
Integration, Not Elimination
Here’s the real freedom: it’s not about wiping out your material mind or even your desire for comfort and beauty. Instead, it’s about letting your spirit mind lead and trusting your “center,” as Jeffrey’s wife Hisami beautifully explains. When you’re anchored to that inner core, all the petals – whether they’re successes, relationships, or even your Instagram feed – can come and go and you’re still whole.
Why This Matters Now
In a world that often feels divided and chaotic (honestly, sometimes on fire!), learning to live from your spirit mind is a revolutionary act. You become more resilient, less attached, and paradoxically, more present for all the beauty and messiness of the material world.
If you’re hungry for spiritual growth, personal transformation, and learning how to find that sweet spot between the material and spiritual, you can’t miss this episode. Tune into my deep dive with Jeffrey Allen – I promise it will change the way you see your inner world and your place in the universe.

As a Spiritual Coach & New Thought Leader, Candace focuses on a soul-centered approach to healing. It is her belief that many of our negative “symptoms” are signs that we are out of alignment with our true selves. We have been conditioned to align with external authorities, societal ideals, out of date learning styles and perfectionistic standards.
We can’t experience or maintain true health unless we are true to ourselves. To clear unwanted symptoms, we must get back into alignment with what we FEEL.
“We are not humans having a spiritual experience, we are spiritual beings having a human experience.”
